Conviction is a spiritual force. A conviction is a strong persuasion or belief. It is fortitude. According to Merriam-Webster’s dictionary, ‘fortitude’ is: “strength of mind that enables a person to meet danger or bear pain or adversity with courage.. .grit, backbone, pluck, guts.” It took conviction for Martin Luther to go against the beliefs of the established church and to nail the ninety-five theses on the door of the Wittenberg church. Who knows what state the church would be in today if he did not stand up for his convictions?

“And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus.
“For he mightily convinced the Jews, and that publicly, showing by the scriptures that Jesus was Christ.” (Acts 18:24,28 KJV).

“Now when the congregation was broken up, many of the Jews and religious proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas: who speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.” (Acts 13:43 KJV).

Only the persuaded are capable of persuading.
