What are you doing with the gifts God has given you? Are they laying dormant? If so, I have a word for you: Stir up the gift of God in you! Stop waiting for someone to come and pat you on the back and tell you how wonderful you are.

Stir Up the Gift of God in You!

       What are you doing with the gifts God has given you? Are they laying dormant? If so, I have a word for you: Stir up the gift of God in you! Stop waiting for someone to come and pat you on the back and tell you how wonderful you are. Most likely nobody will. You may find yourself waiting till your hair turns gray. 

Paul had some powerful encouragement for His protégé, Timothy:

“…I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands.

“For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.”  (2nd Timothy 1:6,7 NIV)

It is high time you rise up and do something about your own destiny. Like Timothy, you are responsible for what you become. If I meet you twenty years from now and your life has not moved beyond the present, it is your fault. Yes, it won’t be the fault of your neighbors and friends.  God has deposited so much into you, but He will not put it into use for you. You are responsible for what you become!

“Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through a prophetic message when the body of elders laid their hands on you.

“Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress.” (1st Timothy 4:14,15 NIV)

You have to be diligent, then others will see your progress. It is time to make a mental adjustment. Identify the gifts God has given you and start putting them to use now!

1. Start by meditating on those gifts

2. Write them down

3.  Begin to use the gifts you have identified

It will amaze you how colorful your life will become when you begin to stir up the gift of God in you!
